VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED

Additional volunteers are urgently needed at Cowdray Ruins to join the existing team of dedicated helpers.  The summer season is likely to be busy, with special events and theatre shows still to come, and volunteers are needed throughout the year to help run this nationally-important Tudor nobleman’s house.

Volunteering, in half day slots, is arranged to suit those who help.  Weekends are always busy, when more volunteers are needed.  Some volunteers offer time weekly, others fortnightly.  Training is given to help new volunteers, but anyone who fears that their brain is not up to assimilating dates and detail, need not fear.  There are excellent audio guides, information boards and DVDs on site to assist visitors who come to see and enjoy Cowdray.

Activities available include:

  • Welcoming and directing visitors
  • Selling tickets and gifts
  • Stewarding rooms
  • Assisting at special events
  • Maintenance and cleaning
  • Helping guide school and adult groups

Volunteers Party 2007

Volunteering at historic Cowdray is a good way to meet like-minded people with similar interests.  The season runs from mid-March to the end of October.  During the winter we hold a series of informative talks exclusive to Volunteers and Friends of Cowdray, plus trips to other histories properties and social occasions.

Anyone interested to find out more  with no obligation, should contact Heather Ongley, Operations Manager, during the day on 01730 814347 or email heather@cowdray.org.uk
